Who is Villa Pomelia?

Villa Pomelia is our family's little retreat when getting away from a big city and traveling for work around the world.

Stargazing, snorkeling, sunbathing, outdoors life in the garden listening to the waves and eat a good Italian meal with Italian wine.

Sicily is a jump in the past where the time flows slowly.

Villa Pomelia is one of our special places and we are excited to share it with you.

What do I need to know before booking?

Clear your head. Recharge batteries. Leave it all behind and take a siesta or two at Villa Pomelia.

Before you reserve your own corner of paradise, please have a look at the following information:

  • If you are visiting us with kids, please be aware of your safety that the second bedroom is located in a guest house. The Mediterranean garden has cactus. The main bedroom on the first floor is connected to the living room via open stairs.

  • The area has sensitive plumbings, please do not throw food down the drain. Do not flush toilet paper or sanitary products, use properly sealed bins. Thanks for your understanding.

This is my first time visit to the area. What is there to know?

  • Sicily is a beautiful region, the time flows slowly and some infrastructures that are common in the cities are sometimes limited in rural areas and close to the sea.
  • GPS Systems are not always reliable, but you will always find someone happy to help you if you get somehow lost.
  • You will love the food and the local wines, it will be a truly Sicilian experience
  • Bring proper shoes: the ones to walk on the rocky beach in front of the house, and trekking one if you want to visit the near Riserva di Cavagrande with its little lakes.
  • In Sicily, credit cards are not always accepted.
  • In the Village of Fontane Bianche, there are few tiny grocery stores/supermarkets, excellent street markets in high season, closer cities are Cassibile (3 min driving) or Avola (8 min drive).
  • Cell phone services are working but in some areas the services are limited.
  • The driving distance from Catania airport is 45 minutes.

Do you provide daily maid service?

What are the cabin amenities?

No, sorry, we do not provide daily maid service. There will be basic cleaning supplies for daily cleaning in your cabin.

The cabin is fully equipped for all your needs.

You will find cooking utensils, a coffee pot, espresso machine, blender, toaster, dishes, flatware, and an outdoor grill.

Soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided as well as the linens and towels as a starter kit. See our amenities list on the Overview page for more information.

Are there any Additional cleaning fees?

Additional cleaning fees only apply when the cabin is left excessively dirty or in disarray. Please be respectful because this is our family's one-and-only cabin. A full list of fees can be found in our policy agreement at the time booking. Examples of items that may be subject to excessive cleaning are:

  1. If you move the furniture and we have to move it to its original position. Furniture should not be moved because it may damage the floors or the furniture.
  2. Dishes are left unwashed and/or left throughout the house. The dishwasher should be loaded and started before you leave. You do not have to wait for it to finish washing.
  3. Spills should be cleaned off the floors, countertops, and cabinets.
  4. Trash should be removed and placed in the outside trash bins. If your trash bin is full, leave the extra bagged trash sitting in the kitchen. Do not place it outside of the trash bin. The insects will have it everywhere!
  5. Sticky stuff all over the furniture.
  6. Spills on the carpet.
  7. Spills on the furniture.
  8. Stained sheets and linens. The cabin is equipped with a washer. If your linens get stained, please wash them to remove the stains. If you or someone in your group gets sick, clean it up and remove all trash containing vomit or you will be charged.
  9. Cigarette butts must be disposed of in the trash. Do not leave them on the ground.

Note: Don’t be worried about the cleaning. We never want to charge any fees for anything. However, sometimes it is required based on the condition you leave the cabin. We must post the fees for those who don’t understand. Normal usage does not require extra cleaning so relax and enjoy your cabin stay.

Now let’s get down to business: soon you'll be kicking off your shoes, relaxing in the garden, enjoying a morning cup Italian espresso on the rooftop terrace in front of the sea, and creating memories that will surely last a lifetime.

We can't wait for you to call Villa Pomelia "home" even if it is only for a few nights.
